Library Instruction

The library offers in-person and virtual information literacy and critical appraisal instruction.  Examples of topics we address include:

  • developing a research topic or question
  • searching with library databases and other quality resources
  • evaluating web sources
  • responding to and fact-checking news sites and disinformation (aka "fake news")
  • working with and discovering primary resources
  • reading and analyzing academic articles
  • critical appraisal of medical and scientific research
  • personal data and internet privacy

Scheduling Library Instruction

To schedule a library instruction session for a virtual or physical classroom, please email us at library@corning-cc.edu.

Providing the following information helps us prepare for your session:

  • course name and instructor
  • number of students
  • date and time requested
  • in-person or remote session
  • library or classroom location
  • assignment details
  • skills, resources, and topics you'd like the librarian to address
