Laptop Loan Program: General Information

SUNY Corning CC recognizes the technological or financial challenges students may have while completing online or remote classes. To face this need, the SUNY System Administration helped our campus obtain a limited amount of Dell laptops which are available for loan to current, full, and part time SUNY Corning CC students. 

Approximately 75 laptops are available for checkout for the duration of the semester.  They will be dispersed on a first-come, first-serve basis. After all of these devices are checked-out, a number of reserve laptops will be available for short-term loans to be determined based on the student's needs. To borrow a laptop, students are asked to visit the Arthur A. Houghton Jr., Library Service Desk to sign a laptop loan agreement (see terms below) and take receipt of the laptop, charger, and protective sleeve. We understand that you may anticipate needing the laptop again, but ask that you return the device at the end of the semester so IT can complete any necessary updates.

Laptop Loan Agreement

By my signature below, I agree to the following terms:

• I accept full responsibility for the laptop computer and accessories I am borrowing.
• I agree to return the laptop to the library on or before the due date that was assigned to me during checkout.
• I agree to abide by all of the SUNY CCC code of conduct including the Acceptable Use Policy (available at https://drive.google.com/file/d/16zgP1Z3PCur6Wd3zJeB4cgzRW1eop1Pc/view?usp=sharing). I understand that if I perform any illegal activities or any activities that violate any SUNY CCC policies, I will be subject to the disciplinary rules and regulations of SUNY CCC.
• I agree to pay all costs associated with damage or loss of this device or its associated peripheral equipment (costs listed below). Any costs charged are final and will be added to your SUNY CCC student account with all applicable standard fees.
  • Laptop Replacement: $829
  • Laptop Charger: $40
  • Laptop Sleeve: $12
• I understand that all charges that are accrued as a result of violations of these policies will be added to my student account and may prevent me from registering for classes, obtaining a diploma or transcript, etc. until my account is paid in full.
• SUNY CCC is not responsible for data recovery on this computer. Please make sure to back up your data online or on an external drive (see below).

Tips from the IT Office:

• Do not save documents to the main drive or desktop, or they will be erased when the computer restarts or is shut down. Instead, save your work to an external drive or the “ThawSpace (X:)” drive on the computer. To find the X: drive, click on “This PC” from the windows menu or the folder icon on the task bar (lower left of the screen).
• The computers auto-boot to an account called CCC Student. If you are locked out of the account, here is the user account login information:
