Remote Tutoring Options

In addition to in-person help, tutoring is available through video chat and text chat platforms most days of the week, as early as 8am and as late as midnight.

Google Meet allows students and tutors to video chat, text chat, share screens and documents with one another, and use an interactive whiteboard.

Remember, if you do not wish to share video of your face or home, it is perfectly alright to turn off the camera, to just share your screen, or to have the camera directed at your written work. We want you to feel comfortable when getting help!

To make a live remote appointment, just use the big green cloud/calendar button to "Make a Tutoring Appointment," found on the Learning Commons homepage and in Brightspace. After selecting the course area and time, select the option of Google Meet. The tutor will send you the Meet link ahead of your session appointment (by way of either an email or a Google Calendar invitation). When the appointment time arrives, just click the link. No software installation is required.

Late-night STAR-NY Online Tutoring (live video and text chat tutoring with whiteboard) 

Our college's membership in the STAR-NY Consortium allows all SUNY CCC students to get free online tutoring from 7pm to midnight Sundays through Thursdays throughout the semester. A professional SUNY college tutor assists the student in a live 1-on-1 tutoring session that uses audio chat, text chat, and/or an interactive whiteboard for up to an hour per night in the following areas:

• biology
• physics
• psychology
• economics
• computer science
• nursing
• nursing math
• accounting
