SUNY OER
SUNY OER Services (SOS) supports resources to make OER textbooks, courses, and other content available. These include:
- SUNY OER Essential ResourcesSUNY OER Services (SOS) operates as part of SUNY’s Office of Library and Information Services. SOS works directly with SUNY campuses and faculty to provide assistance and knowledge to support the adoption of open educational resources (OER) and sustained use of OER as drivers of faculty choice and student success.
- Openly Available Sources Integrated Search (OASIS)Openly Available Sources Integrated Search (OASIS) is a search tool that aims to make the discovery of open content easier. OASIS currently searches open content from 114 different sources and contains 440,336 records.
OASIS is being developed at SUNY Geneseo's Milne Library. - SUNY Open Access Repository (SOAR)The SUNY Open Access Repository (SOAR) is a centrally managed online digital repository that stores, indexes, and makes available scholarly and creative works of SUNY faculty, students, and staff across SUNY campuses. SOAR serves as an open access platform for those SUNY campuses that do not have their own open access repository environments.
- Milne Open TextbooksMilne Library Publishing at SUNY Geneseo manages and maintains Milne Open Textbooks, a catalog of open textbooks authored and peer-reviewed by SUNY faculty and staff.

- Digital Commons NetworkThe Digital Commons Network brings together free, full-text scholarly articles from hundreds of universities and colleges worldwide. Curated by university librarians and their supporting institutions, the Network includes a growing collection of peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters, dissertations, working papers, conference proceedings, and other original scholarly work.
- Directory of Open Access Books (DOAB)DOAB is a community-driven discovery service that indexes and provides access to scholarly, peer-reviewed open access books and helps users to find trusted open access book publishers. All DOAB services are free of charge and all data is freely available.
- Lumen LearningLumen’s affordable course materials are designed to strengthen learning using open educational resources (OER). They provide high quality, interactive learning content, online homework, and personalized feedback to help students study and learn more effectively, with plenty of opportunities to engage in active learning.
- OER CommonsOER Commons is a public digital library of open educational resources. Explore, create, and collaborate with educators around the world to improve curriculum.
- OpenStaxOpenStax is part of Rice University. Their mission is to improve educational access and learning for everyone by publishing openly licensed books, developing and improving research-based courseware, establishing partnerships with educational resource companies, and more.
- Open Textbook LibraryOpen textbooks are licensed by authors and publishers to be freely used and adapted. Download, edit and distribute them at no cost.
Now offering 1107 open textbooks, the Open Textbook Library is supported by the Open Education Network. - SOL*RShareable Online Learning Resources, an initiative of BC Campus based in British Columbia. Includes open textbooks, course materials, and guides for implementing OER.
