Interlibrary Loan: FAQs

Interlibrary Loan (Resource Sharing)

What is Interlibrary Loan?

Interlibrary loan (ILL) allows library patrons to borrow resources from another library. Our ILL program connects library's across SUNY campuses as well as participating libraries across the country. The tips listed below can help you get started using ILL. If you have questions or need help with a hard to find resource, library staff are happy to work with you to find what you need. Stop in during regular hours or email us.

How do I request material?

Search for the resource you need using library search tools. Be sure you're logged into your MY Corning Account for full access. When you locate the resource, you may see that you can request it from another library.

If you choose to request the resource from another library, you'll see the following form. Fill out the form and then Send Request at the bottom. Keep an eye on your library account to check the status of your request.

Does Interlibrary Loan cost me anything?

No. We borrow resources from libraries within the SUNY network or other institutions with resource sharing agreements.
